BEF Futurity News - Southview Equestrian Centre

Two showjumping colts took Elite premiums at the 2011 Baileys Horse Feeds/British Equestrian Federation (BEF) Futurity at Southview recently.  The standard was high and there were several other horses that came very close to receiving this top grade.
Danny Kannan scored 9.14 in the showjumping section to take the highest score of the day for Jonathan Parrott of Wrexham.  This KWPN three year old is by Kannan out of a Burggraff mare Kormeline . He is owned and bred by Jonathan Parrott of Wrexham. All three evaluators, Carrie Adams, Sheri Tozer-Rob and Mark Shaw were hugely impressed by technique over a fence. This Elite premium indicates that the horse has the potential and outlook to perform at international level.
Jonathan bred Danny Kannan from his consistent broodmare Kormeline.  He purchased her because of her great bloodlines and has had several offspring for Jonathan all who are proving to be talented prospects.  Danny Kannan is by Ken Rehill's jumping stallion Kannan .  Danny Kannan is already a licensed stallion with the AES studbook and Johnathan said "it was a last minute decision to take him to the Futurity, he is a truly versatile and talented horse, he hasn't jumped at all since his stallion licensing back in April, but he was fantastic last week. He made a bee line for the jumps and the evaluators were impressed with not only his ability to jump but also the fact that he obviously enjoys it so much.  He has also covered 11 mares this season."
Jonathan has sold a half share in Danny to event rider Helen Waterhouse.  Helen has had great success with Danny's half brother, Call Again Casanova with whom she has qualified for the 4 year old Burghley Young Event Horse (BYEH) Finals in September.  He is out of Kormeline and by Johnathan's own stallion Casanova Du Domaine Z.   Another half brother Boston JRP, who is by Lauriston and also out of Kormeline has qualified for the 5 year old BYEH for owners Martin and Sue Belcham.  Helen plans to qualify Danny for the 4 year old final next year.  Johnathan said "Danny will either become an eventer or a showjumper - whichever he is best at!  Next year we will definitely aim at the young event horse classes and probably also the four year old showjumping classes".
Kormeline's other offspring include a 2 year old full brother to Danny, called Ever Ready Freddie , who has been sold to Jonathan Lee of Middlewich.  The only filly Kormeline has bred is a yearling full sister to Danny, Jonathan will keep her to compete. She also has a foal at foot who is by Casanova Du Domaine Z , and is now in foal to Deco De Landetti Z .  Johnathan is very proud of Kormeline, "it is brilliant what she has done for me, all the foals she has look to be going places and are very high quality.  I make my living from breaking in horses and I breed horses because I enjoy it.  We will carry on with taking the youngsters to the Futurity after Danny's success in it".
